How to Purchase Golf Clubs

Finding the right golf equipment and clubs is important. You need to know your skill level before choosing clubs because the common myth is that you buy a better club and you will instantly be a better golfer. A great golfer can play with a cheap set of clubs and do very well because they have the technique down.

First you need to find a local golf shop where you can test the clubs that you are interested in buying. You may eventually decide to purchase online or at a discounter but trying them out is important. You want to see which ones feel right for you and there is no better way to do this then go to a golf store with a hitting facility.

Next you should never let a salesman over sell you. There are so many great clubs and drivers that you do not need to buy the most expensive thing they have. In many cases the salesperson is trying to meet a goal or quota with a certain brand and does not have your best interest in mind.

If you are tight on a budget then you may want to consider buying second hand clubs. Remember that clubs are sturdy and they last a long time so buying in the secondary market can be a great way for you to save money. In many cases you can find a high end set that is one or two years old that will be great for your needs.

Remember that whether you decide to buy new or used you want to get a feel for the different brand names that are out there before making a purchase. Try not to over buy because the club is not going to make you a great golfer, you can only do that.

Learn Some Golf Grip Tips

Every year people spend millions of dollars on golf accessories like golf clubs, balls, bags and carts. Everyone might seem to think that this game is easy, but one must develop the right skills and tools to learn the fundamentals of the game. The following are some of the many golf grip tips that can help one play the game to the fullest level.

If you have ever played golf you should know that the game takes a great amount of patience and practice. Golf can be a very relieving game that many people tend to enjoy.

Here are five reasons why hand positions and gripping the club properly are very important:

1. The grip is undoubtedly the most ignored, yet the most important golf equipment.

2. The first fundamental that should be taught is how to grip the golf club because it is by far the most important technique to learn before learning anything else.

3. The proper grip of the club influences the perfect swing.

4. Reduces the slice of the ball.

5. Placing your hands properly on the golf club gives you better control and position of the club face.

Now that you know the five reasons why hand positioning is very important, let's get into the proper golf grip tips:

· Grip the top of your golf club with your right hand. Make sure to let your left hand hang from the shoulder. This will help in trying to hold your club in an all natural way. You want to line your hand in towards the center of your body so the ball doesn't slice in the opposite direction.

· One of the most common errors that are made is when a golfer has a weak lead hand that is too much in the palm of their hand. If you grip the club properly it will reduce your tendency to produce a shot that slices and lacks in power.

· Make sure to grip your club not to loose, but not too tight. Hold your club like you would hold a soda can. Holding the club to tight can throw off your swing tremendously. Holding it to loose can prevent you from hitting the ball far. It can also lead to slicing the ball and losing your club.

· The fingers are the most sensitive part of our hand. In golf our fingers are very important. Placing the club more on the fingers rather than on the palm increases your wrist hinge, which results in longer tee shots and a better feel for the club.

Remember to keep your fingers gripped nice and tightly. For practice take a few swings at home to make sure you are comfortable and familiar with your hand positioning.

These tips could greatly improve your game if you follow them closely. These tips have helped many pro golf players become who they are today. By following these easy tips you could improve your golf game tremendously and see the results right away.

Don't make the mistake of many natural left handed golfers by trying to learn the right handed golf swing. This will lead to frustration and confusion. With the help of an experienced left handed instructor, your left handed golf swing will become comfortable with a little practice and effort.

Choosing the Correct Golf Equipment As a Woman

Choosing the right gold equipment can be difficult no matter who you are. There are so many different brands, styles, clubs, sizes, etc. that it can be difficult to get everything straight. This becomes even more difficult when you are a woman. It is understandable (and advisable) to try the sport of golf before purchasing a set of clubs. Golf is a very unique sport and its a good idea to see if you enjoy playing it and are going to devote a chunk of time to it before you drop a load of money of fancy equipment. The problem is, when most women try out the sport, they use their husbands or boyfriends equipment. men's golf clubs are designed differently then women's. While you made learn whether you like the game by using his clubs, you may not get a good indication of anything else.

There are many differences between men's and women's clubs, which we will discuss later. Because of this, it is better to use women's clubs even when just starting out. Before purchasing a set, why not try to borrow women's clubs from a fellow female golfer. If that isn't an option, some places will allow you to rent clubs for a nominal fee. If you absolutely must buy, purchase a 6 or 7 irons or irons to start out with. You can even buy these used. The idea is just to get a feel for the game. Once you have determined whether you will be serious in your pursuit of the sport, then you can make the decision to spend a chunk of change on your clubs.

There are three aspects of the golf club that are important to your swing, and will differ between a men's or women's club. These characteristics are the swing weight, the shaft flex and grip size. The swing weight refers to how heavy the club feels in your hands when it is swung. Generally, women's club range between C0 and C8, while men's are considerably heavier. If you use a mans club, you may notice that you don't have sufficient control over your swing. As the main goal of golf is to be able to control the clubhead, this will lead to problems.

The shaft flex refers to how flexible the shaft of the golf club is. The more flexible, such as in the L style, the more speed you can gain with the clubhead. Therefore, your ball will ultimately travel farther. Some less athletic men even find using the women's clubs to be beneficial to their game.

Lastly, the grip size should be taken into consideration. Women generally have smaller hands, therefore they need clubs with a smaller grip. This just further improves the control that the golfer has over the golf club and thus over the golf swing.

Using the correct equipment will ensure that you play to the best of your ability. By all means, try out the sport before diving into it, just make sure you use the right clubs to get the proper feel for the game.

Golf Instruction Tips - The Benefits of Golf Swing Software and Training Equipment

Golf instruction tips, before the use of advanced technology such as golf swing software, golf training equipment, dvd and simulators used to be mainly confined to newspapers and magazines.

The increasing use of advanced technology means that the role of golf tips has lessened considerably... because now with golf swing trainers, dvd box sets and golf swing software which allows your teaching pro to analyse and critique your swing and look at it in the whole.

Golf instruction tips in this environment have a limited role... somewhat akin to putting on sticking plaster when you are suffering from pneumonia.

There is no doubt that some tips will help you improve your swing and scores in the short term. But there is a certain placebo effect at work here..and if your swing is fundamentally unsound then a more thorough overall approach will reap rewards in the long run.

Tips that you may receive from your friends or teaching pro will assist you practically immediately, but if your overall swing is fundamentally flawed through poor fundamentals such as grip, set up or posture, then your original problem will occur again.

It is for this reason that I would strongly advise that you make the most of the advances in technology such as the use of golf software, high speed photography and golf dvd to improve your swing.

Golf instruction tips can be valuable to your game, don't get me wrong, but if they do not form part of a more systematic approach to improving your overall swing then they will be of limited use in the long term.

Well they have a proper golf swing and you are still striving to achieve the impossible. You might have the same build, flexibility and height, yet it still seems that having proper golf swing is next-to-impossible. What you need is a good trainer, a professional preferably who can help you with the basics of a golf swing.

It is only the instructor who can watch you carefully and point out the mistakes. You may have all the essential stuff like computer training aides or watch videos of legends like David Leadbetter, but you will still need the help of a professional trainer for a proper golf swing. He will guide you about the tiny details like having the right golf equipment. You can ask your trainer if you are using the right clubs. The clubs should be proportionate with your weight, and height. Moreover if the clubs do not have the right length, you cannot have the right swing.

After you have bought the equipments, you can consult the professional club repairers or manufacturers to know if the club heads are positioned at the correct angles. If you want, you can also replace the old grips with new ones so that they are comfortable to use. What to Look When Purchasing a Golf Bag?

Golf bags always used to be an essential part of equipment for all players. There are some basic things which everybody considers while selecting the perfect one for him like its color, capacity, weight, material and design. If you stand as a regular golfer then you'll go best with a tougher golf bag made with sturdy, durable materials to withstand your frequent usage. Such bags mostly tend to come at high in prices. It is wise thinking to get away with a less expensive bag if you go for play just few times a year.

Selecting a perfect Bag type:

There is a big variety of golf bags that you would literally take many hours in a golf equipment store making the right decision about bag type that is best in keeping your golf clubs and also match your style and personality. There are few matters you must consider while buying bag.

First of all, organization is the key to successful golfing, and it becomes more important for the individual going to compete in a mega event. Organization is also needed to keep yourself mindful of extra balls (you might be carrying with you), extra golf tees, and even the divot tool. As you already knew about it and I also reemphasized the significance of organization that it is something that you need to consider, accordingly there are various types of golf bags that come with assorted compartments and sacks to keep items and equipment.

Second thing to look at is what kind of club storage you have need of. Have in view how many clubs you have, and what you usually like to carry during play. Carefully think what clubs you intend to add in future, and pick a bag that can offer enough space for this expansion as well. Your purchase should accommodate all the unique specifications of your golf clubs.

Selecting a perfect Bag Size:

The golf bag should be of proper height so that it can cover all your clubs securely as this investment is only meant to secure other investments; there should be no chance they may slide out or get damaged. The expansion at the upside of your golf bag should also provide much space to fit oversized club heads or grips. If you own an expensive set of golf clubs, prefer that with full length club divider pockets. Despite these individual dividers nicely organize and protect clubs but they also toll some extra bucks adding greatly to their weight and pricing.

There are many choices for you to pick from, and a very large variety has been made for the increasing number of golfers directing their likings. Although I recommend TaylorMade bags, Callaway bags, Ping golf bags and Titleist golf bags. There are lots of others I could mention more in here that are just as reputable, durable and affordable. Prefer which matches your personality.

Golf - Buying Affordable Equipment

It is a fact that golf beginners seem to think that they must start off with the best equipment they can buy. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is not necessary to go out and spend small fortunes on top brand clubs and bags. Purchasing golf gear is a very personal thing, and if one feels that they want to purchase the, Callaway, or the Ping, or Mizuno because they feel that these clubs will make them progress quicker then go right ahead. I am only saying it is not necessary to start off with top brand equipment.

There are hundreds of other brands out there which you can start off with which will not cost you a fortune and still improve your game just as quickly.

I know that if one looks the part then there is a certain confidence factor which is derived from this aspect of the game, but there is one vital factor missing here, and that is ability.

It will not make a whit of difference what gear you have or how you look if you cannot hit the ball off the tee box. So for golf beginners it would be more beneficial to buy clubs that were well made, but not necessarily top brands, and go spend the money saved on professional lessons. Then when enough progress is made, when ones handicap is at a respectable level, then it would be time to consider upgrading your equipment.

The perception of most beginners is that golfers who have all the expensive gear are great golfers. Well let me tell you, there are thousands of golfers playing with the best of equipment and are still on high handicaps, and the reason for this is because of their ability level. They go out and spend money on the best, rain gear, shoes, range finders, tees, golf clubs, golf bags, and they look fantastic, but they ignore vital aspects of the game, such as learning set up routines, drill practice, professional lessons, the list goes on and on, but they certainly look like golfers when they arrive on the tee box, then they begin their set up and straight away it is obvious that it is all for show.

They are all over the place with their driving, their fairway shots are landing everywhere except towards the green and their whole game falls into the mediocre class. If you are intent on spending small fortunes on your golf equipment, Then I will leave you with these final words, please make sure you can play well enough to warrant the expenditure.

How to Hit a Golf Ball Straight - 4 Tips to Laser Point Accuracy

Golf is one of the most difficult games to establish consistency. In fact, how to hit a golf ball straight is a question that nearly every golfer wants an answer to. While par on most courses is around 72, the average golfer does not even break 100. While golf can be enjoyed by anyone, at any age, with any skill level, in order to get the most fun out of golf you are going to want to maximize your potential. Here I am going to share with you 4 tips that you can use in order to get the most out of your game and hit straights shots time after time.

1. The first thing that you need to do is make sure that you are aligned properly to your target line. A lot of bad golf shots are the result of faulty alignment, and if you fix this you can really start to hit more accurate golf shots. The key is to make sure that your hips, shoulders, and club face are all aligned with your target. The way to ensure happens correctly is to put one club down right in front of your feet, and another club down parallel to the first club, but closer to the golf ball. This will help you check your body and club face, to make sure everything is in alignment.

2. The next thing that you must do is establish a good takeaway. The takeaway is one of the most important aspects of the golf swing, but is often overlooked. Bringing the club to far to the inside will cost you accuracy and distance, and will keep you from learning how to hit a golf ball straight. So make sure that you relax your hands, arms, and shoulders, and start your takeaway by moving your hands, arms, and shoulders back in a one piece motion.

3. The third thing that you must do is have a good transition into the ball. A lot of golfers get to the top of the golf swing, and when they start the downswing they rush things. This will lead to a lot of inconsistent shots, because you are altering the tempo of the swing, as well as the face angle of the club. Altering the face angle means the club will come into the ball too far open or shut, causing wild shots that go all over the place.

4. The fourth thing you must do to learn how to hit a golf ball straight is to make sure that you square the club face at impact. This is something that you are going to have to experiment with, because for some this is an unconscious thought, while for others it is something they must be aware of. They key is to square the club face will "soft hands" because tension or a tight grip will kill your golf swing.

These four tips should help you learn how to hit a golf ball straight. Remember that in order to have a successful golf swing, you must keep things simple. The method that I learned keeps things really simple, which is why I love it so much, and you should try it!

Golf Equipment Price Discount

There has always been a doubt about cheaper products and the quality and endurance of same. When it comes to golf equipment golfers, male and female are very particular about the performance of their clubs. This is only natural, because it should be every golfers ambition to achieve the lowest handicap possible, and for them to do that a lot depends on the type of equipment they use, but is it necessary to spend small fortunes on particular brands to achieve the best results. I do not think so!

It is with the greatest respect to all major brands that I say this, but it has been proven in golf club performance testing centres, that less expensive clubs can give the same performance as the more expensive ones, and this has mostly to do with the golfer rather than the golf club.

With all the new innovations to drivers and irons manufactured today, it is still a fact that clubs from twenty years ago and even further back can hit the same distance as the more modern clubs, this is all down to the golfer and his technique of swing and how he delivers his power to the impact area on the ball, not down to the club.

So the point is that it is not necessary to take out another mortgage to buy a set of top brand modern day clubs. It would be better and more beneficial to spend the money on professional lessons.

In this modern world we live in, it is so easy to search for the best pricing when it comes to golf equipment. There are top brand names and lesser known brand names out there all vying for your business. The secret is not in the club your are going to buy, but in your ability.

If you are just a beginner then start off with less expensive clubs, if you are a reasonable golfer then you can up grade to a price that you are comfortable with, without having to break the bank. The other most important factor is in purchasing the correct size club for your stature and size. If the club is not fitting your size then you will never progress to a high standard.

Remember it is not necessary to spend a small fortune on a set of golf clubs, you can work your way up to the level of club you feel is most suitable for you, but start off with less expensive clubs until you are satisfied that you feel it is time to change your clubs.

Buying the Correct Golf Equipment

Callaway, Ping, Taylor, these are just a few of the top golf club brands that are available to purchase in every reputable golf shop. There are many others which are on show, but how important is a brand name
when it comes to actually playing the game.

No wonder it is hard to choose the clubs you want and feel comfortable with. So how does one choose the correct golf clubs for ones particular style of playing.

It is so vital for every golfer, male and female, that they are using the correct size clubs for their stature and size.

How can a golfer expect to play to their maximum if the clubs are either too small, or too big. It is an impossibility to expect to play to your full ability if you are not using the clubs that are ideal for your size.
There are thousands of golfers who have great ability, but because they are using hand me down golf clubs which they were given or inherited from their mum, dad, brother or sister, they have added a further handicap to their club handicap, the handicap of using the incorrect size clubs.

It is not unfair to say that even though the clubs were given as a gift that these clubs may just not be suitable for use by the recipient, but because there may be sentimental value attached to them it could be hard to discard them and purchase new clubs.

Unfortunately, the big problem will lie in the detrimental loss of results in playing golf.

Every golfer owes it not just to himself, or herself, to play to their utmost ability, but they owe it to their club mates as well. If one performs with the maximum effort but is using the wrong sized clubs then they will never progress any further than mediocrity and will lose competitions and remain at a high handicap level.

This is not what golf is all about. Golf is a precision game and must be treated as such, and if one is not using precision type clubs to suit the golfer, then the loss of enjoyment and success will make it more difficult for the golfer to continue playing.

The vital asset for any golfer, or even sportsman is to achieve success and to gain this success they must have the correctly fitting clubs and equipment.

It is not just a matter of looking the part, you must play the part to your utmost ability.

Golf Clubs and the Correct Sizing

One cannot stress enough about the importance of choosing the correct golf club size when it comes to playing golf. The ambition of every golfer should be improvement in their game.

The total focus must be on lowering handicaps and understanding what it means to set targets and goals, then setting about achieving them.

If a golfer attempts to play golf with inferior clubs then he will never achieve any of these goals, and the reason is quite simple.

If the club size is too small, or too large, then it is impossible to adapt the correct swing motion to drive the ball to the distance required down the fairway. Everything about golf is precision. Precision in gauging distance, precision in making contact with the ball either off the fairway or the tee box. Precision in chipping the ball onto the green, precision in aiming a putt to drop into the cup. These are just some of the aspects where you need to have the right equipment to allow you stand a chance of improving your game.

It is most unfortunate too see a golfer who shows good potential for improvement being held back by using the incorrect sized clubs. There is no excuse for this. It is a very simple job to get fitted for the exact size clubs you need to play comfortably and with ease of motion in ones swing.

All one has to do is seek out professional advice, which by the way should be free. The easiest way to do this is to ask your club professional. He should be able to tell you by a few simple tests of measurements which are totally unique to you. Once you have your correct sizes you can go off and purchase the clubs.

By using the correct fitting clubs you will not only enjoy your game more, you will begin to see the improvement in your game, but most importantly in your handicap.

Golf Equipment Discount

It is mind boggling the amount of golfers male and female, I see trying to play golf with equipment that is totally wrong for them. Choosing the correct equipment can mean the difference between winning or losing at golf.

For instance, you will not see a professional footballer play games in boots too small for him.

It would be impossible for him to do so and still keep his standard of playing up to a professional level.

The same goes for any sports person who has to use sports equipment to play their sport. Golf is no different, if you try to play golf with undersized clubs you will fail every time to win the game.

You will never lower your handicap and will forever remain in the mediocre stage of playing levels.

How does one choose the right clubs I hear you ask. The reply is very simple. Golf clubs do not come in a one size fits all, so you must take a little time and go to a reputable golf shop, there you must ask the golf professional his, or her advice and be measured for a perfect golf club fit.

This only takes a few minutes, but it is the most vital few minutes on your golfing road to becoming a winner.

Remember you do not have to buy at that moment, you can wait and buy from the internet, or from a friend who has clubs for sale. Once you know your fit, where you buy your equipment is irrelevant.

I have seen male, and female golfers come out to play golf with the best brands of equipment having spent a small fortune and they could not hit the ball off the tee box. This is not the fault of the equipment, it is down to the player using the clubs.

My point here is, it is not necessary to spend fortunes on golf equipment unless you are reasonably proficient at the game.

Start off with good fitting clubs, shoes, range finders, wet gear and trolley. All these items can be bought at very reasonable prices and will do you until you really feel you are ready to move up to the more expensive equipment.

Like a golf swing should be, you start off slowly and build up to a higher level.

Golf can be a very frustrating game at the best of times, especially if you are just beginning or moving up the ladder to becoming a decent amateur, everyone no matter what level they are at needs a little help from time to time.It is essential to have the right equipment. You can get that help by clicking below now.

How to Choose the Ideal Golf Club Set For Beginners

Choosing the right golf clubs and the right golf clubs warehouse is a very important step for all beginners wanting to start enjoying this great sport. There are a plenty of things to deliberate when purchasing a set of golf clubs. If you don't have experience in buying and choosing golf equipment, then this article will assist you. There are very good rules of thumb on acquiring the right golf set and additional general info that's a must for golf players of all skill levels. If you have a reasonable amount of knowledge regarding the purchase of this sort of equipment then you'll be very happy about the time you invest into research to acquire sufficiency info that'll assist you in making the right decision.

First of all you need to decide the kind of golf clubs that you require. Each set includes a total of fourteen clubs and they're categorised as follows: putters, irons and woods. Irons are used for the part of the game that is distance-specific, and here the distance is gauged by the angle of the blade and the length of the shaft. You are likely familiar with these as you would be utilizing them most often on the golf course. Woods are used for larger distances and here the accuracy is inferior than irons. You'll have to hit the ball a few times with a wood to acquire an estimate as to the distance it would cover with your stroke. Around the greens, wedges allow you to get the ball on the green with a much lighter stroke but here the blade angle is much more open allowing the ball to "jump" over obstacles without covering too much distance. For lighter strokes, putters are used as the accuracy level needed is higher. Putters allows a lot more accuracy when compared to the other types of clubs. If you want a complete golf club set you'll need one of each.

If you are a novice and if you don't want to purchase a complete golf set in a golf clubs warehouse, start with a #3 wood to drive the ball and use it in the fairway, a #7 iron to get it close to the green, a pitching wedge to get it on the green if you weren't able to get it on with your #7 and finally a putter to finish the job. This way fourteen clubs may be changed into 4 which you can acquire at used sport equipment stores or even at golf clubs who, all have lost and founds and are willing to sell those after a year or so for peanuts.... This will help you concentrate on the mechanics of the swing of golf versus struggling with 14 different types of clubs... This is the best ways to get to know the basics of golf. Then, once you are ready to take the plunge, you may buy a complete golf club set. As a beginner, take your time and try and get comfortable hitting the ball solidly and consistently before moving on to the next phase.

When you are ready to move on, ie you can hit the ball and are starting to count to strokes (not a good idea at first...), you will want to purchase a complete golf club set in a good golf clubs warehouse but again here, there is no reason to go crazy and buy the latest technology! You are still a beginner thus a set for beginners will be more then enough for you! Top of the line clubs will not make you a better golfer. Don't get me wrong: I'm not saying good golf clubs are no better than cheap golf clubs. I'm saying the top of the line golf clubs are not better then good golf clubs for beginners. Top of the line clubs ( often blades vs cavity backs) are in fact often more difficult to master than more forgiving clubs you will want to consider.

Another aspect is graphite vs steel

Graphite is something a lot of golfers have two perspectives about. The proponents say that it's light, easy to swing and grants hefty strokes because of its light weight. Golfers who don't sanction graphite will use steel clubs instead. They think graphite clubs are too expensive and the benefits do not match the price. Some golfers favor steel clubs because of their stiffness when compared to the graphite clubs that are flexible. If your swing is fast (100+mph) and you like clubs with weight then you'll likely favor steel clubs, as nothing is better than the feeling of a heavier club so when you swing the club the momentum can be felt.

Until you're scoring under 90, at least, you won't have to worry about head weight and spin. As a beginner it's very important that you familiarize yourself with the facets of golf and become skilled with the golf clubs you already have which will allow you to make better choices afterward and you remember that you must practice to improve your game. Master the game with the equipment that you have already. You shouldn't actually be squandering money on purchasing equipment that's just technically fancier. This is one thing that a lot of skilled golfers today came to regret and which you should seek to avoid.

When it comes to golf club sets you can find the best quality golf equipment direct from the manufacturer at the very best prices at this amazing Golf Clubs Warehouse

Free Golf Lesson On How To Choose The Best Golf Equipment

In playing golf, how do you decide which golf equipment suits you the best? Which type of equipment should you invest your money in? Choosing the wrong equipment could easily affect your golf game. Avoid this at all costs.

To let you make informed decisions, read the following guidelines and keep them in mind when you are shopping for your first golf equipment, be it golf balls, golf shoes or golf clubs.

Do Not Be Afraid To Ask Questions

The first thing that you should do is to ask around. You could ask your relatives or friends, colleagues or even your neighbours. Make sure that they do play golf. You never know but they might be into golf too. Ask them their opinions and get their recommendations on what types of equipment are worth buying and what to avoid.

Another option is for you to just walk into any store and get their advice. These shop assistants would be more than willing to share their opinions and ideas for new golfers like you. After all, they work on commisions aren't they? Not only is this an efficient way to get information, it is also practical, as you're already in a golf store and they can easily give you recommendations.

Set Your Goals For Playing Golf

In playing golf, you must remember to know what exactly your goals are. Remember to be realistic and pay attention to what you need rather than what you want. If you can identify your goals before you go shopping, it will save you lots of time and money. By identifying your goals, you would be able to select the types of equipment that you would really need. You would also be able to choose a new set of clubs in a practical manner, rather than spending too much time and money on choosing golfing equipment that you do not necessarily need.

Think also, of the reason you chose golf in the first place. Why not any other sport? Is it because you would like to join your business partners for a four-times-a-year game? Or is it because you really enjoy golf and would spend all your available hours devoting yourself to it? Once you get your priorities straight, you will find that choosing the golf equipment that suits you best is relatively easy.

Be Honest About Your Level Of Interest And Dedication In Playing Golf

Be true to yourself. How dedicated are you to playing golf? Now that you have decided to spend on golf equipment, be honest about the time and effort that you are willing to put into the game. Do you plan on playing often? How often do you want to practise in a week? Will there be lessons involved? If you are not sure about your plans then it is advisable for you to buy less costly golf clubs. However, if you just can't wait to get into the game and are willing to spend hours perfecting your game, then you should probably think of investing in a more expensive set of clubs.

Should You Go For Second-hand Or Brand New Golf Equipment?

Again, you have to think about your goals and expectations. If you are in the habit of taking up a hobby and then forgetting it after a month or two, then it is better for you to buy used golf equipment. They are cheaper and yet just as effective as new clubs. Should you suddenly decide that you have fallen in love with the game and would like to dedicate your time and effort into it, then go ahead, invest in a brand new set of golf equipment. And, should you decide otherwise, you can always give the used set away or sell it to other new golfers.

Familiarise Yourself With Golf Shaft Options

To all new golfers, it is wise to pay attention to the golf shaft that you are using. The composition of the golf shaft would depend on whether it is graphite or steel. The flex of the shaft reveals how much the shaft bends when the club is swung.

Graphite is a lot lighter compared to steel. It creates a quicker swing speed. On the other hand, steel is more hard-wearing and tough. It is also a lot cheaper compared to graphite.

As graphite is lighter and easier to swing, it is the perfect choice for women and senior citizens. Meanwhile, younger and stronger men tend to opt for the regular and stiff shafts.

Decide Which Golf Club Is The Best For You

A perfect golf swing is invaluable. Golfers who are just now beginning to learn the ways to play need to choose golf clubs that are specifically catered to those with a higher handicap. The best choice would be the irons that weighed in perimeter and backed by cavity. Also, try looking at those hybrid sets. These have long irons (around 4- or 3- or 5-) and are at times substituted by utility clubs.

Remember; think of your goals, your expectations and your needs. That way you can pick the golf equipment that is the best for you.

Golf Equipment - Driving or Duffing

Woah, keep the wallet in your pants big boy. We've got some explaining to do first. Basic golf equipment of some kind is a must for anyone looking to take up this ancient game. Golf equipment like a good set of golf clubs, comfortable golf shoes, and a roomy but practical golf bag are essential to start your golfing adventure. But don't go overboard here. Your just learning the game after all, and while good golf equipment is essential, there's no point in blowing a whole wad before you really decide how much you like the game of golf and vice a versa. And as with many sports, the ultra high tech, high performance golf equipment won't really make a big difference to the beginner or for that matter average golfer. After a few years, once you've achieved brilliance on the course, and are beginning to pass the average to above average skill level, then it's time to consider the more advanced golf equipment.

Hitting The Clubs

Your clubs are probably the first piece of golf equipment to consider for an upgrade, once your on the verge of challenging Tiger for the crown. You could decide to replace the entire set of clubs, if money is no object, and your appetite for golf domination has no bounds. But there is another option to consider. There are probably many golf clubs in your bag, that haven't seen the light of day, or the green of a course since the last time you paid for drinks on the nineteenth hole. So, maybe you should just consider gradually replacing the clubs you really use with new high performance clubs. The next few times you go golfing, don't just keep track of the strokes on each hole. Take an extra golf score card, and just track of the golf clubs you use for each hole. A little more work, but after a few weeks, you should have a pretty good idea of which golf clubs you use the most, and which are just coming along for the ride. You may want to make up your own little custom golf club score card just for this exercise.

These Shoes Were Made For Swinging

Comfort is of course a major consideration when choosing golf shoes. You're going to be traipsing across eighteen fairways (or more), and you don't need to be doing that in blisters. A good grip and solid support are also important in picking out golf shoes. As with many sports, a good base (your feet) can make all the difference in the world. Proper foot positioning, and support, are essentially the beginnings of a great golf swing. The pros, or staff at a good golf equipment store can be helpful in choosing a pair of golf shoes that are appropriate for you. Don't be afraid to spend in this category, as it is practically impossible to blow the bank on a pair of shoes, and your feet will love you for it.

Golf Goes Bizzare

Alright, I'm sure you've seen all the contraptions, and medieval like torture devices in the infomercials guarantying to take strokes off your golf game. Well, like I said in the first paragraph, put away the wallet big boy. Instead find your self a good golf pro instead. I'm sure every golf course you frequent has a pro of a least dubious stature. Ask around a bit, and see if any of your other buddies had good success with a pro. Setup some regular lessons, and put in the practice time. That's the best sure fire way to improve your game. And then, once your golf game has ascended stratospheric levels, maybe you can justify buying those ultra super fantastic new clubs you've been drooling over all season.

Quality Golf Equipment is Important For the Golfer

In the world of golfing, one of the important aspects is to have good quality golf equipment. Having quality equipment can mean the difference between having a great day on the greens and not playing well at all. Most professionals of this sport will tell you that quality equipment is extremely important.

However, if the person who is playing is totally new to the game, then the quality of their golf accessories and equipment might not be of much importance. This is simply because they do not possess the skills that they need as of yet. Once the skill is there, the equipment will become more important.

While all of the golf equipment and accessories that are used in the game are important, possibly the most important is the golf clubs. A good set can be the difference in playing a game that is just so, or winning a championship. This is the reason why a lot of research has gone into designing these clubs in the last few years.

Manufacturers are working on ways to help improve the clubs, which will improve the game of the golfer. If you are shopping at a golf store, then you will most likely see all of the newest golf clubs that are on the market. However, if you do not want to spend a lot of money, the try shopping for discount golf clubs as well. You might be surprised at what you can find.

Of course, besides the clubs, there are other elements that are important. This encompasses things such as golf shoes, golf gloves, golf apparel, balls, tees and golf training aids. All of these are necessary for the proper playing of the game. The best shoe to buy for golfing is one that fits properly. This may seem like an obvious idea, but many people wear shoes that pinch while golfing because they did not take the proper amount of time necessary to get the right fit of shoe.

The balls of this sport are even more important than the shoes once you get good at golfing. The best kind of balls to get depend on the type of game you will be playing. Hard balls are great for distance; medium balls are good for both distance and durability. Almost all professional golfers use a soft ball for their games.

While quality golf equipment is important for both the expert golfer and the novice, it is more important to the experts who have perfected their game. If you are just beginning in the game of this sport, then you must understand that as your game improves, so should the type of accessories and equipment that you play with. This is of course if you are truly serious about your game.

Golf Equipment Technology

Technology drives the world today in most walks of life and golf equipment is no exception. Over the last few years two of the most important products in the sport: golf clubs and golf clothing have developed dramatically.

The dynamic of golf woods, golf irons and golf putters in the average golf bag have changed radically. Their looks mark a major drive to get weight lower and further behind the club face. Golf drivers in particular have developed fast over the last three years and are now offered in traditional as well as square and triangular head shapes. Developments accelerated by the use of internal computer aided design software.

The first square golf drivers to appear on the market was marketed by Callaway Golf - the 460cc FT-I. It positioned weight to the extreme corners of the square club head in order to raise the MOI - Moment Of Inertia. This in turn maximized the resistance to both horizontal and vertical twisting providing far greater forgiveness to off center shots. Since their launch many other brands have used similar principles include Nike Golf, Ram Golf and The Masters Golf Company. These offer major benefits particularly to mid to high handicap golfers.

Triangular shaped golf driver heads have also burst into golf equipment reviews. This design enables weight to be positioned as far away from the face as practical. This lowers the centre of gravity, optimizing the launch angle and once again increases the MOI for greater distance and forgiveness. A feature that is ideal for all golfers, making it easier to improve distance yet still maintain control. A typical example of this golf driver is Titleist's 907D1.

Moveable weight technology has featured recently in golf driver design too. Both TaylorMade with their r7 Superquad and more recently Mizuno's MP600 offer products where weight can de moved around the club head. This enabling it to be customised to individuals' preferred golf ball flight. Golfers that hook shots should position more weight towards the toe, while golfers that slice should position it more towards the heel.

If you want more golf equipment technology advances in your driver then look out for Callaway's interchangeable shafts that are new for 2008!

If these changes to golf equipment aren't enough then take a look at the changes in golf clothing. Not so long ago when golfers went out to play they would probably be dress in their every day casual wear. Not any longer - brands like Ashworth, Galvin Green and The Masters Golf Company have introduced ranges of technical golf clothing to ensure that rounds are played in optimal conditions. If you feel good then you play good!

Two of the overriding principles in their systems approach to golf clothing are the use of man-made fibers and layering. On the one hand synthetic fibers, unlike traditional cotton, do not absorb moisture encouraging it to be freely passed into the atmosphere rather than hang around the body in the form of damp or clammy garments. On the other hand, layering helps to trap air that is an excellent insulator helping to keep the body warm.

These principles have lead to the use of three types of clothing. The first, worn closest to the skin are often known as base layers. Their task is to wick moisture away from the golfer's skin as quickly as possible to avoid it cooling and creating discomfort. Typical of these are Galvin Green's SkinTight range. These are manufactured from a bacteriostatic material that maintain the body's natural bacteria level, but eliminates odor, providing incredible fresh dry comfort at all times. For information on technology go to golf equipment

Next comes the intermediate or warm layer that is designed to maintain a good body temperature. These garments, often made of fleeces replace traditional cotton shirts and woolen sweaters and must also pass moisture vapor freely on its way to the outside world. Examples of these are The Masters Golf Company's range that is manufactured from 260 gsm polar fleece. These provide excellent insulation but will not absorb moisture.

Finally the outside or fowl weather layer. Here we find garments offering a range of features from windproofing to waterproofing, each of great value to golfers. One again these use a wide variety of technical fabrics the best know being Gore-Tex and Gore Windstopper found in Galvin Greens Ace and Brett golf waterproof and windproof jackets.

All in all golf equipment in all its forms is benefiting from technology. All designed to make the sport more enjoyable.

5 Golf Tips On Driving Better Off The Tee

5 Golf Tips On Driving Better Off The Tee

Author: Golf Swing Genius

#1) Adjust your setup - Make sure you play the golf ball all the way forward in your stance so that it is directly in line with your left heel. Your stance should be slightly wider than shoulder width apart. You want to have a nice solid base which you can turn and coil around. Also, for the right handed golfer, you want to tilt your spine slightly to the right as this will allow you to swing and hit the golf ball on a slight upswing, launching it high into the air. This adjustment in your setup will also lead to more distance off the tee.

#2) Keep Your Lower Body Stable - When you are swinging, the job of the lower body is to act as a base around which your turn and coil your upper body. This allows you to wind up correctly and will create more power as you swing through the golf ball and release the golf club.

#3) Keep Your Shoulders Square At Impact - It is a very common swing fault to open your upper body too early in the downswing without giving your arms time to catch up. Everything needs to come together at impact, so making sure your shoulders stay square through the impact zone will allow you to be more in-sync and hit more solid and consistent golf shots. Having the shoulders open is even more common with the driver as it is a longer club so you need to allow yourself to be more aware of the timing of your arms and body working together. It's a slightly longer swing, so you have to stay down and through your shot at impact just a split second longer than when hitting an iron.

#4) Make Sure The Hands Lead Ahead Slightly At Impact - You want to build up some lag or leverage in your golf swing because this will allow you to hit it farther and strike the golf ball more consistently. Make sure that you create some wrist angle or wrist set in your backswing and then maintain that angle in your wrists for as long as possible in the downswing. This will allow you to come into impact with your hands slightly ahead of the golf ball producing a much more solid golf shot. It is a common fault to release the golf club too early in the downswing where the clubhead gets to the golf ball before the hands do. Make sure to focus on creating a good angle with your wrists and hold that angle until the last second right as you are hitting the golf ball.

#5) Eliminate Excess Body Motion For More Consistency- It's common with the driver to want to swing extra hard in order to try and hit the ball farther. One problem with swinging too hard is your body will probably move too much. Your head should stay relatively still during your golf swing even with your driver. You do not want too much lateral movement. If you shift your weight too much to the right on the backswing, you may be getting your weight outside your right foot. Make sure when you turn in the backswing, you turn so that your weight shifts to the inside of the right foot. On the downswing and follow through, make sure to stay balanced and behind the ball slightly, instead of feeling like you are moving forward too far.

Choosing Golf Clubs

Choosing Golf Clubs

Author: Lind Golf

Ok. Here are the basics. A golf club has three parts - the head, the shaft and the grip. A standard set of golf clubs consists of three woods (the Driver, #3, and #5 fairway woods), eight irons (#3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #9, and PW), and a putter - that's twelve clubs in all. According to the rules of golf, and we should all play by the rules, you can carry fourteen clubs in your bag, so many golfers add a specialty wood or another iron.

Now, let's have a look at the different types of clubs.

Drivers & Fairway woods

These clubs are used to hit longer shots. That's a basic yet apt way to look at it. If a golf hole is a par four or five from tee to green, most golfers would choose to use a wood.

The driver, or the 1 Wood, has the lowest loft of any golf club. Loft is the angle of the club face that controls trajectory and affects distance. A driver has a loft between 7 and 12 degrees. Better golfers have traditionally favored drivers with less than 10 degrees of loft, which require a lot more skill to hit.

Most golfers also carry a #3 and #5 fairway wood as part of their arsenal. A #3 wood has a loft of 15 degrees, and a #5 wood has a loft of 18 degrees. The higher the golf club number, the higher the loft. The #3 and #5 wood are commonly referred to as fairway woods, because they are most often used during the second shot of play, when you are supposed to be on the fairway.

Hybrids

Hybrids are a recent innovation to golf. A hybrid is a combination of an iron and a wood and is an easier to hit alternative to a long iron. Hybrids are versatile enough to be used in any situation. Hybrids come in a range of four lofts - 16 (#2), 19 (#3), 22 (#4) and 25 (#5) Degrees. Hybrids replace their equivalent number long iron, e.g. a #3 hybrid will replace a #3 iron and a #2 hybrid can be used to replace a #5 fairway wood.

Irons

Irons are generally used for shorter distances and more control than drivers and fairway woods. The closer you are to the green, the higher the iron you will use. A standard set of irons consists of #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8 and #9 and the PITCHING WEDGE (PW). A sandwedge is generally a good option to purchase for shots out of sand traps. The #3 and #4 irons are harder to hit than the higher numbered irons. Many golfers choose to replace the #3 and #4 iron with higher lofted woods or hybrids which are easier to hit than traditional long irons, resulting in comparable distances.

Wedges

Wedges are really just specialty irons. The first wedge is the Pitching Wedge (PW), which is usually between 52 and 56 degrees in loft. The PW is the highest lofted iron in a standard set and lowest loft of the wedges. Lob wedges range from 58 to 64 degrees and are used for close range short and high shots to overcome obstacles close to the green. Wedges are extremely useful for your short game and it is beneficial to keep a selection of them in your bag.

Sand Wedges are another type of wedge and are designed to get you out of the dreaded sand traps. They have a shorter shaft and a more angled face to get under the ball in order to exit a bunker.

Putters

As the adage goes "Drive for show, Putt for dough". The putter usually gets you in the hole, so it can be assumed, that choosing the right putter is critical to your game. Putters come in various styles and types.: short, belly, long, bent, center-hosel, heel-toe, mallet, and so on. When choosing a putter the main things to consider are the: weighting, balance and feel. Better putters provide alignment aids to help you visualize the line from your ball to the target.

Golf Club Custom Fitting

Golf Club Custom Fitting

Author: Lind Golf

We all know that Golf is a game that's difficulties can induce high levels of frustrations. So the one piece of advice we have is to make sure you have the right equipment. Don't make it more difficult for yourself by using clubs that just don't feel right.

Every golfer's body and swing are unique to that individual and that's what custom fitting is all about. Custom fitting golf clubs involves a quick self assessment of your game and several easy measurements. To custom fit your golf clubs, the following information is needed:

• Your gender (male or female)

• Your height in your stockings or socks

• The distance from your wrist (where it bends) to the floor (without shoes)

• What club you use at the 135 meter marker

• Handicap, age, swing speed

Firstly, your gender is used to put you into the correct fitting scale. Then, your height and the distance in inches from your wrist to the floor are used together to determine the length of golf club that is appropriate for you. (About 80% of golfers are Standard length.)

Your age, handicap, estimated golf swing speed and club you use at the 135 meter marker are all combined to determine the shaft flex that is appropriate for you.

Club Length & Flex

With regards to the length of your club there's one main point you should consider: a longer golf club will hit further given the same swing speed - so length can be a good thing. But, as I'm sure you're thinking, it can't be that simple. And you're right! Since the swing arc is longer, it often is also harder to keep under control - so length can be a bad thing. All things being equal, most golfers will opt for longer length to the sacrifice of greater control. But there's still a decision to be made!

The standard length of a steel shafted Driver for a man is 44 inches. Graphite shafted drivers are manufactured 1 inch longer than steel shafted clubs because graphite shafts weigh less than steel shafts allowing us to produce a longer club with the same swing . The proper length of a golf club is a function of your height and the length of your arms. Some golf shop provide a Custom Fitting Wizard that determines the correct length for you with just a few simple measurements.

Flex is the torsional stiffness of the golf club, which is provided by the type of golf club shaft that is used. Generally, stiffer shafts are better for stronger hitting golfers.

The proper flex of a golf club is a function of your strength and golfing skills. Determining the correct flex is most important for your Woods and longer Irons. Short irons, wedges and putters are not impacted very much by the different flexes as the differences between flexes becomes very small in the shorter clubs.

Loft & Lie Adjustments

A lie adjustment requires bending the hardened metal in which an iron is cast. We strongly advise getting your lie fitting done in person. Online fittings while accurate do not take into account your natural ball address. Some players are more naturally upright and some like to lean into the ball. Once you have lie adjusted a club it is usually not a good idea to re-adjust if you later find it was the wrong adjustment.

From years of building experience we find it rare to need more than a 2 degree adjustment upright or flat, therefore we only perform lie adjustments to either extreme.

Woods, hybrid clubs and putters can not be adjusted. The reason these clubs can not be adjusted is because the hosel of each is cast in a way where physically bending the head at all will cause damage. In woods and hybrids it will crack or bend the crown of the club, and putter hosels are not made with the strength required for adjustment after the casting process.

Loft adjustments require a different type of bend than a lie adjustment. Some people receive advice in which they require a certain loft adjustment. We have never understood loft adjustments since it merely changes the loft of the club. We recommend buying golf clubs matching the loft you seek and avoid custom loft adjustments. Bending the loft of an iron weakens the hardened metal and can lead to future metal fatigue, since the actual bend twists the metal to an extent. If the loft of your 5 iron is too strong, use a 6 iron. If it is too weak, use a 4 iron.

Golf Equipment Essentials - The Truth About Golf Equipment

Playing golf without the right golf equipment is like swimming without water, it just does not make sense. However, as we all know purchasing golf equipment is not a cheap venture. You have to weed your way through all of the gadgets and gimmicks that people are selling with the promise of improving your golf game. If you are the type who enjoy simply playing the game of golf on your free weekends, you need nothing more than the bare golf equipment essentials. All you really need are golf balls, golf clubs, and of course a golf bag to tow your clubs.

If you take a look at the golf equipment rules as defined by the United States Golf Association your golf bag should have fourteen or less clubs. You really need to focus on your putter, wedges, irons, woods, and driver. You can feel free to mix up your clubs provided you keep the golf bag carrying only the maximum of fourteen clubs. Of course, in getting yourself the proper set up, you should expect to pay up to $1,000 for a complete golf club set.

You simply cannot do without a golf bag. Think about having to tow around your golf balls and your clubs on the golf course, you simply would not make it. Golf bags are made from a variety of materials such as nylon or leather. When choosing a bag consider how you get around while playing your game. Do you ride in a golf cart or do you walk the course? If you are someone who rides a golf cart, you will likely want to have a large enough golf bag to contain not only your clubs, but towels, balls, tees, and other accessories.

Now if you are the type that walks the course, you will definitely want to invest in a lighter golf bag that comes with a shoulder strap for a more comfortable journey. When talking about essential golf equipment, you cannot forget your golf balls. Generally, you can purchase balls in sleeves or boxes of three. You can even find packages that contain 15 to 18 balls. You have your choice in types of golf balls as well, two-piece and balata. A two-piece golf ball has a surlyn cover, a core that is hard and very large. However, these are generally more popular because the surlyn cover protects the ball from cuts and nicks. The outer layer of a balata ball is softer but has the same hard core inside.

There are many golf accessories you could consider when shopping for golf equipment such as golf shoes, golf glove, an umbrella, a club brush, ball markers, and golf tees. The decision is yours in regards to which type of golf clubs, golf balls, golf bags, and accessories you get. You have to decide based on your budget, what type of golf equipment you need, as well as how it helps your golf game.

How to Develop More Power in your Golf Swing

How to Develop More Power in your Golf Swing

Author: Sean Cochran

How can you develop more power in your golf swing? This is probably a question that all of us want an answer to. Most of us go to great lengths to do whatever it takes to get that "power" into our drives off the tee. I think we probably all have some ideas of where 300-yard drives come from, but I want to give you the answers without any "fluff."Golf swing power is the result of three specific factors. Two out of the three are much more important, but the third does have a bearing on the outcome of how far you hit that ball. The first and probably most evident of the three is your swing mechanics. I bet you are not surprised by this one.The second one is probably the least recognized of the three, but for many is the "key" to longer drives and the category that is given the least amount of attention. Number two is what we term golf strength. This is defined as how well your body is conditioned (i.e. fitness) to swing a golf club with maximum power. Probably the least understood of the three, and maybe the most needed by golfers in general. We will talk more about this later. Let us move on to number three in regards to power for your drives.Number three is your equipment. Yes, equipment does make a difference in how far you drive the ball. The equipment manufacturers have let this fact be known, and I bet we all have gone to the pro shop probably more than twice to pick up a new driver that claims to give us another 20 yards on every drive. That extra 20 yards might not be down the middle of the fairway, but it will give you an extra 20 yards... could be left, could be right, or could be in the center of the fairway. That all depends on points one and two of this article. Equipment and technological advances have definitely lengthened the distance of our drives. But without better swing mechanics and your body in better golf shape, new technology will not help your game. A bad swing will produce a bad result, regardless of what type of "new" driver you may have just purchased.Swing MechanicsI think all of us are aware of how important the mechanics of a swing are when it comes to driving the ball down the fairway. It is essential, if you are over the top with your swing or come inside too much, you'll see that dreaded slice or snap hook. The drives will be short, too low, too high, left, right, or a combination of these if you are putting bad swings on the ball.It is essential for a golfer to work on the mechanics of their swing, week in and week out, to improve their game. If it weren't important why would all these tour players have swing coaches that work with them on a consistent basis? The golf swing is such a finite, mechanically complex movement, that requires constant work to keep it highly efficient and in check. One of the most common mistakes I see amateurs make is probably a lack of instruction. I see amateurs over and over at the driving ranges, week in and week out, pounding balls without any improvement. This, I feel, is a result of one of two things: 1) a lack of instruction or 2) low levels of golf strength. A lack of instruction leads to the development and ingraining of improper swing mechanics. This only results in slices, hooks, topping the ball, and hitting it fat on the course. And we all know that those types of swings lead to frustration and bad rounds of golf. I would suggest to most anyone to find a good instructor and take lessons on a consistent basis. This can only help your game in the long run. Now moving on the second point of how to achieve powerful drives and that is golf strength.Golf Strength (Golf Fitness)Golf strength is a term we use to describe the golf fitness level of an individual pertaining to swinging a club. This is much different than how much you can bench press or squat, which I like to refer to as "weight room strength." Understand that these two terms, golf strength and weight room strength, are very different. If you do not quite understand the difference, ask yourself one question: How many bodybuilders do you see teeing it up on Tour? The answer to that question is quite obvious, none!It comes down to this idea: the mechanics of a golf swing require specific levels of flexibility, balance, stability, strength, endurance, and power to perform it efficiently. If your body does not have the required capacities of the aforementioned list, then the result will be? Anyone want to guess? Well, let me give you the answer: a less than optimal and less efficient swing than possible. Essentially, your body supports your swing much like a foundation supports the house you build upon it. I am sure that all of you would choose to build a house on a stone foundation rather than a sand foundation, wouldn't you? I will say that many of you make a different choice when it comes to your golf swing. I quite often see amateurs developing their swing on a "foundation of sand," not a good thing to do in my book.Regardless of how much time you work on your swing mechanics, if your body does not have the "golf strength" to support your swing, you are limiting your potential. I have seen it numerous times, people practicing at the range who struggle, not because of trying to get better, but because their bodies are limiting what they can do with their swing. Quite often I see people with limited flexibility, poor balance capabilities, and low levels of strength and power. The bottom line is that your mechanics will not get better until you fix the body that swings the club!Up to this point we have discussed the two most important ideas when it comes to power on the golf course. A review of the topics tells us that they are optimal swing mechanics and the proper levels of "golf strength" in the body. One without the other is going to leave you short when it comes to your potential in the game.Again, I probably see point number two, golf strength, being addressed less often than swing mechanics when you get right down to it. The pros are all aware of the importance of golf strength, why not you?EquipmentWe have come to the final point, and that is equipment. I think the majority of golfers are aware of the technological advances that have occurred in golf equipment over the last 20 years. I mean, think about the '80's when we were still playing with woods that actually had wood club heads! Imagine that for a moment, and now we are using drivers with space age faces that shoot the ball off of them at warp speed. In addition, we have to mention the advances in terms of golf balls. How manufacturers design golf balls today makes a difference in how far they travel. What a lot of people do not realize is that the USGA has set standards on how "hot" driver faces can be and how "fast" balls can come off the face of drivers. Most clubs are reaching this limit, and anything past these USGA rules becomes illegal to play. So what does that tell us? 1) Club manufacturers have done a great, and I mean great, job in the advancement of technology, and 2) to increase the distance on your drives you are now going to have to turn to points one and two of this article. So what does improving your power really come down to?It comes down to three simple ideas. Number one is improving your golf swing mechanics. Improved mechanics will improve your driving distance. Number two is improving your golf strength. By improving your body as it pertains to the golf swing you will improve your distance off the tee. Finally, equipment does make a difference, if you hit the ball correctly.
